A better world is possible!
We are the Yolo County chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). As democratic socialists, we believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for the wealthiest among us. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through community-based chapters like ours, DSA members use a variety of tactics to empower working people. Our chapter fights in Yolo County for the good of the many, not the few.
Our Committees
Political Education
The Political Education Committee organizes educational events for the benefit of members of the Yolo chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the broader public. These events could include book clubs, public meetings, film screenings, study groups, and other political discussions.
Mutual Aid
The Mutual Aid & Solidarity Committee is an organizing body that coordinates resource sharing, community care, and grassroots survival networks. Built on the principle of “solidarity, not charity,” this committee will act to empower communities to directly meet material needs (such as food, housing, and healthcare) without relying on traditional, top-down nonprofit or government hierarchies.
Labor
Our Labor Committee focuses on building local labor power within Yolo County. This involves supporting striking workers, and building a team of dedicated organizers to help unionize more Yolo County workers.
