We are the Yolo County chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). As democratic socialists, we believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for the wealthiest among us. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through community-based chapters like ours, DSA members use a variety of tactics to empower working people. Our chapter fights in Yolo County for the good of the many, not the few.

AB1900 (AKA CalCare) is a bill in the state legislature to create a statewide single-payer universal healthcare program for ALL California residents. Once it’s passed and budgeted for, it would cover medical, dental, hearing, vision, mental health, reproductive, and long-term care for free at the point of service for all Californians — no deductibles, no copays, and no premiums!
Working people know that our healthcare system is broken. 2.4 million Californians have no form of health insurance, and over 3 million are now at risk of losing coverage thanks to Trump’s attacks on healthcare funding. Meanwhile, premiums, co-pays, and deductibles keep rising year after year.
